  • Singapore voltage is 220 – 240 volts AC, 50 cycles per second. The power plugs used are of the square shape, three pin type.
  • The trafficking of illegal narcotics and psychotropic substances is strictly prohibited.
  • Possessing fireworks carries a hefty fine of SGD 5000 and/or a 2 year imprisonment.
  • Gambling is only legal at Charity draws, Toto, Singapore Sweet lotteries and on course betting at the Singapore Turf Club.
  • Pharmacies can be found at supermarkets, department stores, hotels and shopping centres.
  • There are two mobile phone networks GSM 900 and GSM1800.
  • Smoking is not permitted in indoor public places, lifts and hotel lobbies, within 5 metres of an entrance or exit of a building, playgrounds, markets, carparks and ferry terminals.
  • Spitting in a public place is an offense.
  • Tipping is not readily practised in Singapore as most hotels and restaurants already charge a 10% service charge onto bills.
