Raffles Hotel is perhaps one of Singapore’s brightest and most recognised icons. Opened in 1887 and named after Singapore’s founder Sir Stamford Raffles, this hotel has had a long and lustrous history. The hotel played host to many literary legends over the years including Rudyard Kipling, Noel Coward, Somerset Maugham and Joseph Conrad.

There are many vestiges of a bygone era inside the Raffles walls. The Bar and Billiard Room (also known as The Connoisseur’s Haven’) which houses two original pool tables and as its nickname suggests a large variety of liquors and cigars. The Tiffin Room reflects the Hotel’s glory days of the 1900s to 1930s where guests can now partake in a traditional High Tea.
